The Merriest Christmas

Christmas 2011 was our first Christmas with Baby Camp and the first in our house :-)! We didn't really have time to do a lot of decorating (see the previous sentence about a baby), but we managed to get a tree up and put out a few other festive decorations. Thanks to my BFF Jen for the tree putting up assistance!
Our tree, which only got a few ornaments added this time, plus the plethora of 2011 gifts! Note the table with the wonderful Fisher Price Nativity Set which was a baby shower gift from Louisa White :)
I really didn't care all that much about Christmas this year as the months of November and December were mostly about preparing for, birthing, and learning how to take care of a newborn. I did use the season as my springboard for songs to sing to the little one. Now that it's over, I'm out of ideas for what to sing! On a serious note, I began to have a new understanding of God's love. While we will never fully comprehend the love God felt when Jesus was born (and the love for all his children), I came closer to knowing that love as I fell more and more in love with my own child this Christmas.  I look forward to many more years telling Camp about the reason we celebrate the season.

My mom (Nonna) and brother, Lou, came to visit for the days before Christmas and Christmas Day. We had our traditional Christmas Eve spaghetti dinner, and I got to use my fun Christmas china!
Christmas morning in our house with our little elf was fun! For brunch, we went down the street to my Aunt Kam's house. It was a joyful time with our family. We helped Camp open his gifts, but I think next year will be a little more exciting. Jonathan even picked out a special present for Camp, a baseball rattle!

Nonna found this treasure for our little Camper!!!

Come on ride the train! Choo Choo!

The holiday wasn't over on Sunday though! Tuesday morning we hit the road to Gaffney to my dad and Sherry's house. There were more smiles and gifts to enjoy there. Camp got his very first tractor so he can be like his Jampa :) We took Camp to my dad's office, The Gaffney Ledger, where he got to see what it's like to be a newspaper man. His great-great-great grandfather and namesake, Edward Hope DeCamp, was the Ledger's founder and first publisher.

Our last Christmas celebration adventure took place at Lake Norris in Tennessee. We met up with the Howells there to spend a few nights in a huge "cabin" right on the lake in the mountains. More presents, lots of games, and a trip into Knoxville to meet Camp's great-grandparents were on the list for the weekend. Happy New Year 2012!

Thank you Kyle and Mary Martha for renting the lovely mountain/lake house for us to enjoy!

So that was our Christmas story of 2011. We hope you and yours had a lovely and special holiday too!
