Savvie is ONE!

Baby Savvie celebrated her first birthday on May 28, 2015! I cannot believe how fast that year went. My little girl is ONE!

Personality:
Sassy Savvie! She can certainly be a handful but is usually happy if you give her snacks, water or her brother! So far, she is a good listener when you tell her no.  Savvie is pretty "go with the flow." She adapts pretty easily to our plans. Her smile and giggles are infectious. She is fairly adventurous and doesn't seem cautious like her big brother was at this age. We have to keep a pretty good eye on her!

Size:
Savvie is 31 1/4 inches long (90-95%) and weighs 21 pounds 2 ounces (60%). She is wearing size 4 diapers now and mostly wears size 12 months clothes. I need to get her foot professionally measured, but she has been wearing a size 4 shoe. Her little foot is still kind of chunky on the top so a lot of shoes don't fit!

She was about the size of that pillow when she was born!

Development:
Our girl is full on walking now! She can walk, climb, clap, wave, and tackle hug. Savvie has four teeth- two on the bottom and two on the top (but not the front teeth). She still doesn't say any words but the pediatrician isn't concerned at this point. She is learning how to throw a ball.

Sleep:
Sleep is about the same as last month. Sweet girl will usually sleep about 12 or 13 hours at night! She has started (finally) playing in her crib and talking to herself for a while when she wakes up. We still aim for two naps a day, and the naps are both about 1 or 1.5 hours long.

Eating:
I have been adding in more foods with milk, and she seems to be doing fine with them. We will continue to add dairy into her diet as long as she has a good reaction. Her current favorite foods are: waffles, bananas, carrots, crackers, hot dogs, and blueberries. She is still nursing four times a day so we won't introduce any other milk just yet. *We gave her a smash cake at her party on May 30 and she hated even having it on her tray. She didn't want to try it and wasn't interested when I put icing in her mouth.

Fun and Games:
Now that the weather and water has warmed up, Savvie likes (not quite loves) the splash pad and pool. She doesn't like being in her float though! At the park, she loves going down and climbing onto slides, swinging, and just walking around. She loves phones and will grab a phone from you in a heartbeat. Big brother is still her main form of entertainment. It takes a lot of pressure off of me that she is happy to just follow him around and do whatever he does! They sure do love each other and usually play together very happily.

Dear Savannah Kathryn,
Happy first birthday Savvie!!! I can't believe you are already one. It has been a fun year watching you grow and learn. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are the best daughter. God has blessed our family with you. You make our sweet family complete. I pray that you will continue to be healthy and grow up to know Jesus. Thank you for being such a sweet baby. I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. All the time. Forever and ever.

Savvie at 11 Months

Sweet Savvie turned eleven months old on April 28. She is absolutely precious. I could just look at her all day. I'm so blessed that she is mine.

Personality:
Savvie is still a little hesitant when dropped off at Sunday School, but she is calmed fairly quickly. She is definitely getting to be more independent around the house. And she LOVES big brother. She will follow him everywhere and do whatever he does. She is friendly to everyone giving waves and smiles. She will put her head down bashfully when she gets attention. I love that she is *mostly* relaxed and chill now. She is less of a "cry baby" when she gets hurt, and she rarely fusses.

Size:
I really don't know. I estimate she is maybe 20 pounds. Savvie still wears size 3 diapers. She is wearing size 3 or 4 shoes. Clothes size is 9-12 months for most thing. Most people say she is tiny and a little peanut.

Development:
Baby girl has taken her first steps! She has walked 3 or 4 steps at a time. Usually she has had a toy or her lunchbox in her hands when she shows off her trick. Savvie has two bottom teeth. She is just so cute with her little chompers. She doesn't say any words but is starting to put more consonants and vowels together. She does say "mamamama" and "dadadada" and "babababa" but not really with meaning. 

Sleep:
I am so happy to report that she has continued this month to be a good sleeper. Savvie likes to suck her thumb a little bit as she falls asleep and cuddle up with her swaddle blanket. She goes down easily around 7:30 pm and sleeps until 7 or 8 am. She takes two naps during the day, usually around 9 am and 2 pm for about an hour each. I wish she would wake up happy and play a little in her crib, but she doesn't do that yet. I guess she is just eager to be among her people.

Eating:
Baby girl has started being a little bit picky on her foods. She still eats a lot of stuff and a large quantity though. She loves all fruit and most vegetables. Her favorites now are grapes, strawberries, blueberries, frozen peas, and green beans. She also eats bread, crackers, and most meats. She will spit her food out if you put something new on her plate so she can taste the next food. Some typical breakfast foods are pumpkin oatmeal, banana, peanut butter sandwich, or eggs. For lunch she likes turkey or peanut butter sandwiches, blueberries, and carrots. At dinner, she will usually eat whatever we are having. She still won't eat rice or pasta. Savannah loves her water throughout the day. She will take a few sips here and there from a big girl cup. She usually begs for it. We are nursing four times a day. She doesn't seem to care that much about it, but I'm still enjoying it for the sweet snuggles and availability/ease.

Fun and Games:
Savvie loves when we sing "Old Macdonald" during her wild diaper changes. She likes looking at books sometimes. I think eating is probably her favorite thing. She still usually enjoys bathtime (but hates when daddy does it). Her favorite toys right now are the Cozy Coupe, her "S" lunchbox, Camp's rocking chair, the toilet and its water (ewww). She really loves opening cabinets and drawers and taking things out of them. Savvie still enjoys being worn in the Ergo, but she won't fall asleep in it anymore. She loves to dance and do anything her brother is doing.

Dear Mookie,
You are such a happy baby and fun to be around. You are so easy going now. Your relationship with your big brother just makes my heart jump for joy. The way you love each other already is beautiful. You are beautiful. You look so cute and sweet in your spring dresses and bows (even though you take them out constantly). I can't believe you are almost ONE. Let's keep doing a great job being such a great baby! I love you like a fat kid loves cake.

Camp Dyes Eggs

This year I decided to take the challenge to dye eggs with Camp. I just noticed that he was wearing Christmas pajamas to dye Easter eggs! It went really well, and he loved it! It's easy, fun, and cheap so I'll look forward to doing it again.

Ten Months Savvie Style

Y'all. She's ten months old. Our little Savannah Kathryn turned ten months on March 28. She is a little spitfire. Here are the details:

Personality:
Some separation anxiety has set in. Savvie is a big time crybaby now when we leave her with the sitter for community group or in the nursery at church. Speaking of the nursery, she moved up to the Octopus room with the crawlers and early walkers. She's so advanced. (hehehe) But of course I was NOT ready for her to change rooms because that's just another sign she is growing up <tear>.  Sometimes after leaving her she will calm down. Sometimes she is just quite fussy. Cheerios tend to help. Yay emotional eating! Other than the separation thing, SK is quite delightful. She's fairly high maintenance and definitely loves attention, but I think she's a star in the making!

Size:
She weighs in around 18 lbs 12 ounces so she has gained over a pound since the last update. I guess she is still about 29 or maybe 30 inches. She doesn't seem to be getting taller really. Everyone comments that she is tiny! Savvie wears size 3 diapers and mostly 9 months (but some 12 months) clothes. She is wearing a size 3 shoe in hopes she may walk soon- she is getting heavy to carry!

Development:
Baby girl has some awesome gross motor skills! She crawls and cruises everywhere and fast. Her newest favorite thing is climbing up on the seat in Camp's Cozy Coupe and standing to reach the table. She has also climbed on Camp's rocking chair and up onto the coffee table. Savvie has two bottom teeth! So far she has only bit me a couple of times. Whew. I think our girl has been talking/babbling more too. She mostly makes the "b, d, m" consonant sounds with a lot of "aaah."

Sleep:
Thank Heavens and Praise Jesus that Sweet Savvie is finally sleeping through the night!!! It's the best thing ever, sleep is. She sleeps from about 7:30 pm until 6:30 or 7 pm. Finally at 9 months, I just let her cry it out a little. I dropped the middle of the night feed but would go in her room and comfort her, sometimes rocking her, change her diaper and put her back down. She cried some but not too long, and after a few days of this, she was pretty much sleeping straight through! Hooray :-) We are still doing pretty well with two naps. The morning nap is iffy as it always has been, but I generally get a decent hour out of her between 2 and 3 pm. 

Eating:
Savvie is eating three regular table food meals a day plus usually an afternoon snack. She generally loves turkey, peanut butter sandwiches, whole wheat bread, corn (LOVES it), french fries, blueberries, bananas, crackers, Cheerios, applesauce, broccoli, peas, green beans, and carrots. The girl is not quite as happy about pasta or rice.  She loves drinking water from a big girl cup (usually a straw cup or Wow! cup as she didn't do too well with the traditional sippy). We are still nursing away four times a day. I am super grateful that her milk intolerance has let up a little so I can eat more dairy now with no ill effects! I have slowly been adding products made with milk into my diet. I still have not had regular milk or ice cream but dream of the day soon. We will wait a little while longer too until we give any dairy straight to Savvie. It's hard to figure out meals for a hungry babe who can't have cheese or yogurt, which are two staples for most older babies!

Fun and Games:
If her big brother is doing it, she loves it and wants to do it too. She has found a lot of interest in taking things out of bins and putting them into stuff. She is obsessed with taking the lunchboxes off of our little kitchen cart and crawling around with her little monogrammed Vera Bradley bag. I think we have a purse/bag/lunchbox obsession on our hands.  Her newest fun thing is getting into the toilet water! Yuck. It's a race to get the toilet flushed and lid down before she can get to it! She likes riding the horsey and any kind of song/movement combination. Savvie is very ticklish and laughs so hard/good when tickled. It's flat out adorable.

Dear Savvie,
This is such a fun age. I am so relieved that you are FINALLY sleeping through the night. Thank you, thank you, thank you for getting with the program. You are always so proud of yourself when you do something new or interesting. I'm proud of you too! We are having a lot of fun exploring foods, moving all around the house, shopping and sometimes sitting in the cart big girl style, and snuggling. You mostly just snuggle when you are nursing or super tired, but you are much more snuggly than your big brother was as a baby. You have started pulling out your hairbows but look so precious when you wear them, so I hope you will let me keep putting them in your hair. Speaking of hair, it's so hard to keep clean when you run your food through it at EVERY meal! But I still love you...all the way to the moon and back...and more than doughnuts.
