Camp was four months old on March 11. Life with this precious baby boy just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter.
Personality:
This baby loves to play and laugh. Camp smiles at anyone, but he really loves to smile for his daddy. He is very alert and full of energy. He wants your attention most of the time, but he is content to entertain himself for up to 15 or 20 minutes. He giggles when he is tickled or if someone makes a funny sound or face for him. We get a lot of compliments on his behavior and good nature. He is curious about everyone and everything. He will just stare at people in stores until they interact with him and get him to smile. He is grabbing any object within reach and putting most of these items in his mouth. I love that he gets excited about new people, new things, and new adventures.
Size:
Camp weighs 16 pounds, 11 ounces (80%). He is 27 inches long (98%). His head size is 44.2 cm (98%). He is mostly wearing 6 months size in clothes. He is wearing size 2 diapers, but he will need size 3 very soon!
Development:
The pediatrician says that Camp has the motor skills of a 6 month old!!! He sits in a tripod position, and he props himself up on his arms when he's on his stomach. He still loves to stand up on your lap, and we've been helping him stand on the floor so he can feel the different textures on his feet. He has excellent hand-eye coordination. He helps me turn the pages of a book and tinkers with the toys near him. Camp loves to put his feet in his mouth now!
His eyes are changing colors. They are currently grayish with a little blue and some brown specks. Everyone comments that he is teething with the way he is gnawing on everything and drooling, but he has no teeth coming through yet!
Sleep:
Camp is sleeping through the night! We have been moving his bedtime back slowly, and right now he goes down in his crib for the night around 10 pm. He sleeps until 7 or 7:30 am, and he will usually play in his crib for a little while when he first wakes up. Sometimes he will sleep until 8 or later. Camp enjoys a nice morning nap of 1-2 hours and two short afternoon naps (in the stroller, swing, car, or crib). He will let us know he's tired by yawning a few times in a row, rubbing his eyes, hitting himself in the face, or just being a little fussy. I am so happy that Camp is a good sleeper!
Eating:
The little guy is still nursing only. He has taken a breastmilk bottle a few times when he stays with his daddy or a babysitter (friend or family). Camp eyes our food and watches us eating with extreme interest. We will probably start trying some solids (rice cereal) in the next few weeks around 5 months. I predict he will be a big fan of eating solids!
Playing and Fun:
Camp has grown up a lot in one month! He has so many new tricks and abilities. Camp now uses both hands and feet to pull, shake, and hit the toys on his floor gym. He can happily play alone for quite a while with his toys. He has discovered a love for anything paper: paper table coverings, napkins, magazines, tissue paper. It is very entertaining to watch him crumple and rip the paper with delight. He is sitting really well in his Bumbo, but his time in it is limited as he will start to push himself out of it like a rocket launching into the sky. We have a vibrating seat/rocker that he hated as a newborn but is big enough now to enjoy it. He can play with the animal rattles on the toy bar and make the seat rock when it's on the hardwood. Also, he's finally tall enough to fit in his exersaucer so that his feet reach the platform! It is an exciting new plaything that he can stand up in and see the world from another perspective. Camp's likes as of four months include: finger puppets, paper products, silly songs by dad or mom, standing up with a little help, books, and playdates :-)
Dear Camp,
I am so proud to be your mommy. You are a well-behaved, good-natured little baby boy. You make me laugh often, and you make my heart smile every minute of the day. I love to pray with you, read to you, and watch you sleep. Thank you for being your sweet, adorable self. Keep on charming!
Love,
Mommy
